Wendy James was a cherished member of the Windsor community, known for her warmth, generosity, and genuine love for people. From the moment she joined the Town of Windsor’s Tax Office in July 2016, Wendy became a friendly and familiar face, greeting every resident with kindness and a smile that made even the busiest days feel lighter. Her laughter—bright, unmistakable, and often contagious—filled Town Hall and left an imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Professionally, Wendy served as a dedicated Tax Clerk, working closely with colleagues Cathy Elliot and Sally Voneisengrein. She possessed an exceptional talent for customer service, especially when working with residents who arrived upset or overwhelmed. Through her patience, empathy, and disarming sense of humor, she consistently diffused tension and reminded people that they were seen, heard, and respected. Her ability to brighten someone’s day was one of her greatest gifts, and it became a hallmark of her time in public service.

Wendy’s personal life reflected the same heart and devotion she brought to her work. Above all else, she was a devoted mother to her son Lincoln, who was her pride, her joy, and her greatest purpose. Whether she was cheering from the stands at his basketball games or sharing stories about their adventures, her love for him was always evident. Wendy was also an active presence in the Windsor community, involved with her church and engaged in Lincoln’s school, forming countless meaningful connections along the way.
