Sharon Jenkins, 68, of Ames, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2025. Born and raised in Ames, Sharon dedicated her life to education, working as a beloved elementary school teacher for over 30 years. Her compassionate nature and passion for helping children succeed made her a respected figure in the community. Sharon earned her degree in education from Iowa State University and went on to influence generations of students with her kindness and dedication.
Outside the classroom, Sharon was deeply involved in various local organizations, volunteering her time to causes that were close to her heart. She was particularly passionate about supporting literacy programs and advocating for mental health awareness. Sharon’s tireless commitment to others extended to her family, where she was a loving wife to James Jenkins, a devoted mother to two children, and a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren.

Sharon was known for her warm spirit, infectious laugh, and ability to make everyone around her feel valued. Whether it was organizing community events, hosting family gatherings, or offering a listening ear, Sharon’s presence was a constant source of comfort and joy. Her family and friends will forever remember her for her selflessness, her ability to bring people together, and the love she gave so freely.
In her honor, a celebration of Sharon’s life will take place on Friday, November 21, at Ames Memorial Church, beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ames Literacy Foundation, a cause Sharon held dear.
Sharon will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
